Cloudrift does not have a boat launch facility on our property. We have secured an exclusive arrangement with a trusted site nearby that supports self-launching, booked in advance.

Before you launch

Boat owner requirements

  • A valid Skipper’s License is required.
  • A Buoyancy Certificate for the vessel must be provided.
  • Boat owners are responsible for launching their boats at their own risk.

We recommend having support to assist with launching your boat.
Costs

The launch fee is R250, payable per vessel in cash upon arrival at the launch site.

The launching facility requires advance notification by completing the form below, well in advance of arrival.

Rules and regulations at Cloudrift

  • Due to the low-hanging branches of the avenue of trees as you enter Cloudrift, no boats are allowed on the Cloudrift property unless by prior arrangement and approved by management.
  • Only trailers are permitted on the Cloudrift property, between launching and collection.
  • Boat mooring facilities are available for your boat at the Cloudrift Jetty.
  • Boat owners are responsible for the safety and security of their boats.

Made for days on the Vaal

The Vaal at Vaalview is calm and scenic, made for cruising and water sports in summer and glassy, still mornings year round. Moor at the jetty, enjoy sundowners on the Boathouse Bungalow balcony, and keep noise considerate as sound carries far over the water.
